Saut
D'Eau
(By Stephanie Jeannot)
More than the eye of the media
More than the many mountains and trees
More than the heat and the deep blue sky
That surrounds the island of Haiti
When you see the waterfalls of
beauty
And the fields of tall sugar cane
And on July 16th when they celebrate the fete
And you see a marching parade
And when you get that family
feeling
Like everyone around is your cousin
And you eat food as if you were a King or Queen
And you feel the hot but not humid sun
It's an experience you won't just want to
live once
Though mosquitoes might attack you all the
while
You'll get chills when you swim through La
Therme
And want to join in the rain dancing of child
Awakened by the earth by roosters and their
crow
It beats the morning sunrise that through each window
glows
And marinade, patties and greo are set at
the table
And there's no egos based on what you have or clothing
logos
It's like living in another world, where is
spoken another language
Especially when you approach the waterfall and walk into it's
freshness
Saut D'Eau, a destination of beauty that the whole world should
see
A part of Haiti and it's culture and it's travel-o-city.
